Phil Taylor turned on the power to claim a fourth European Tour title in Vienna as he beat Michael Smith in Sundays final. The Power fired an impressive seven maximums and broke the throw three times as he squeezed past a resilient Smith 6-4 in a thrilling final. After Smith claimed the opening leg, the 16-time World Champion quickly responded before breaking the throw on D10 for the first advantage. However, Smith responded immediately to break back only for Taylor to once again return the favour at 3-2. A scrappy sixth leg went the way of Smith to square things up after Taylor uncharacteristically missed five darts for a two-leg lead. Smith came within two legs of victory in Vienna The 26-year-old then pulled out a majestic 130 finish on the bull to claim a 4-3 advantage and move within two of victory. This only awoke the Power as he then started to play his best darts, landing an 11-darter and 12-darter to move 5-4 in front. And Taylor clinched the victory in the tenth leg with a 32 checkout to mark a successful return to European Tour action. It was hard work for Taylor as he reached the final, starting with a hard-fought 6-3 third round victory over Kim Huybrechts, in which he wired double-12 for a nine-darter. Kyle Anderson had earlier beaten Michael van Gerwen He then produced a 6-2 victory over former Lakeside champion Stephen Bunting before confidently knocking out Australian Kyle Anderson who was on the hunt for his first PDC final. Anderson had knocked out world No 1 Michael van Gerwen on his way to the semi-finals.Anderson raced into a 4-1 lead and was looking the most likely to reach the final before Taylor recovered magnificently and won three straight legs to level at 4-4. Anderson again got himself in front and missed one dart for the match, but an 11-darter from Taylor set up a decider at 5-5, which he clinched to reach the final.Austrian Darts OpenQuarter-FinalsKyle Anderson 6-4 Michael van GerwenPhil Taylor 6-2 Stephen BuntingTerry Jenkins 6-4 Peter WrightMichael Smith 6-5 Nigel HeydonSemi-FinalsPhil Taylor 6-5 Kyle AndersonMichael Smith 6-4 Terry JenkinsFinalPhil Taylor 6-4 Michael Smith Also See: MVG starts with win in Austria Home pair advance in Austria Best darts bust-ups World Cup glory for England Зарегистрируйтесь, чтобы увидеть ссылку! . Last year, Matt Kuchar closed with a 4-under 68 to beat Kevin Chappell by two strokes for his second win of the 2013 season and sixth of his career.LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland - Marcel Hirscher beat Felix Neureuther in a testy Austria vs. Germany duel for the World Cup slalom title on Sunday. Racing last as the controversial first-run leader, Hirscher finished 0.76 seconds inside Neureuthers time to overtake his rival in the standings. Hirscher then circled the finish area in a wide sweep, pounding his chest with his right fist in celebration. Earlier, Austrian and German team bosses had traded barbs before the decisive run over a first-run gate-setting design by one of Hirschers coaches. "At the end, everything is fine," said Hirscher, who added his second straight slalom trophy to the third straight overall title he clinched Saturday. Neureuther said he had been "quite mad" after his first run, but acknowledged Hirscher as a worthy winner. "A very, very tough end," said Neureuther, who was denied his first season-long title. "The last race was maybe the most difficult of the whole year. The best won and it was Marcel." Olympic champion Mario Matt was third, trailing 1.08 behind his Austrian teammates two-run time of 2 minutes, 7.74 seconds. Hirscher had led by 0.06 on the morning course. He raced first on the best snow through a gate-setting by an Austria coach that was branded unfair and ugly by Neureuthers team director, Wolfgang Maier, and ridiculous by American racer Ted Ligety. Austria team director Hans Pum defended its right to set any course within the rules. "I can understand it a bit," said Hirscher, of the anger also expressed by the France team.dddddddddddd "The course setter will always try to set for his athlete." Still, Hirscher fully earned his third slalom victory this season on a less challenging second-run course set by the Sweden team. Neureuther stood hunched resting on his ski poles in the finish area to watch Hirscher race for the title. They were locked on the same time at the final check point, but Neureuther had lost speed through the last six gates and Hirschers smoother run carried him to a clear winning margin. The new champion first greeted Matt, who beat him to the Olympic title last month, before going to console Neureuther. "Its fine," between us, Neureuther said, "because Marcel wasnt setting the first run today." On Saturday, Neureuther had denied Hirscher the season-long giant slalom title by the minimum 0.01 margin. Then, the Germans third-place finish as the final racer knocked the Austrian down to fourth and into a points tie with Ligety. The American got that title on a tiebreaker — 5-2 on race wins — over Hirscher. Germanys Maier earlier revealed that Austria considered a formal protest Saturday against Neureuthers skis. Had he been disqualified, Hirscher would have taken Ligetys title. "When they win everything, everything is fine," Maier said, describing the Austria team as "the most unfair nation. Always they are finding something to show not really good sportsmanship." ' ' '
