ROGERS, Ark. - Whether its because of her improved play or the reason for it, Michelle Wie appears as comfortable on and off the golf course as at any time in her career. Wie continued her season-long surge on the LPGA Tour on Saturday, shooting her second straight 5-under 66 to take a two-shot lead in the suspended second round of the NW Arkansas Championship. The performance put the U.S. Womens Open champion within a round of back-to-back wins for the first time in her LPGA Tour career, not that she showed any signs of stress after reaching 10 under overall. In fact, shortly after surging into the lead at Pinnacle Country Club, Wie joined PGA Tour pros Rickie Fowler and Keegan Bradley as part of a social media challenge in dumping a bucket of ice water on herself on the driving range. Yes, life is good at the moment for Wie. "I think it comes hand in hand," Wie said about her winning and revamped attitude. "... I played really well toward the end of the year last year ... took a lot of time off, took about a month and a half. So, I just felt really refreshed, and I think it comes hand in hand." All 72 players in the afternoon session were unable to finish on Saturday because of thunderstorms, with second-round play expected to finish early Sunday before the final round begins later in the morning. Before the rain arrived, the morning pairings were once again left chasing Wie — who earned her first major victory at the U.S. Womens Open last week at Pinehurst after winning earlier in the season in her home state of Hawaii. So Yeon Ryu, paired with Wie, was second at 8 under after her second straight 67, while Suzann Pettersen, Chella Choi and Line Vedel were three strokes back. Pettersen had a 67, Choi shot 65, and Vedel had five holes left. Top-ranked and local favourite Stacy Lewis was four shots behind at 6 under, a week after finishing a shot behind Wie at Pinehurst. The two are training and practice partners in Florida, and Wie couldnt help but challenge her friend to the ice bucket shower after her dousing. "Michelles obviously playing some really good golf," Lewis said. "Im going to have to shoot a good number tomorrow. ... At least I put a good number up today, and well see what happens tomorrow." Lewis made the early charge Saturday to close within a shot of first-round leader Alena Sharp of Hamilton, much to the delight of the pro-Arkansas crowd — where Lewis played collegiately. Sharp made it through 15 holes prior to the delay. For the second straight day, however, Wie saved her best for the back. She jumped into contention with a 4-under 31 on the back nine on Friday. After teeing off on the back nine Saturday, she once again closed with a flurry — birdieing four of her final seven holes to shoot a 4-under 32 and surge into the lead. She putted 29 times on Saturday, a day after needing 28 in her opening round using her more hunched-over style. "These days, Michelles on fire," Ryu said. "I played with her today and yesterday, and her putting was awesome. I think thats why she could win a major tournament." Wie put the finishing touch on her round — and quest for a second straight tournament victory — with a 3-foot birdie putt on No. 9 that put her within reach of back-to-back wins. "I just want to kind of get through tomorrow," Wie said. "But at the same time, it is definitely in the back of my mind ... If I can get it done, hopefully it will happen." Wie held off Lewis by a shot to win her first major title in the U.S Womens Open. Playing a group behind Lewis on Saturday, Wie bogeyed her second hole, No. 11, and recovered with a birdie on the par-5 14th. She followed that with a second straight birdie on a par 5, getting up and down off the fringe on No. 18 to reach 6 under. Her birdie spree followed on the front nine, with large galleries following both Lewis and Wie. Lewis followed a sluggish first round in which she putted 31 times by needing only 24 putts on Saturday. She stumbled with a bogey out of the greenside bunker on the par-3 fourth hole before recovering with birdies on No. 5 and 9. Shell need more of the same if she or anyone else is to catch Wie on Sunday. "Its going to have to be something pretty low," Lewis said. "The way Michelle and a lot of those girls play, theyre not really going to come back to us." Зарегистрируйтесь, чтобы увидеть ссылку! . I kind of got a taste of being able to pick a suit with the draft lottery, I went with the bow tie.TORONTO - Trevor Harris doesnt have the luxury of easing into his first CFL start.Harris, 28, makes his CFL starting debut Friday night when the Toronto Argonauts host the expansion Ottawa Redblacks. He replaces veteran Ricky Ray, who suffered a concussion in Sundays 17-14 loss to the Montreal Alouettes. The Argos (7-10) must beat Ottawa (2-15) to remain in playoff contention. They also require Montreal to defeat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday to clinch second in the East Division and host either Saskatchewan or B.C. in the conference semifinal Nov. 16.Absolutely, Harris said confidently when told Fridays contest was a must-win for Toronto. Thats the best kind.Hamilton would clinch second with a Toronto loss or by beating Montreal on Saturday. The Ticats would finish first — and secure home-field advantage for the East final Nov. 23 — by beating the Alouettes by eight points or more.At first glance, giving a young quarterback the chance to make his first start against an expansion franchise would seem a perfect scenario for the Argos. But theyre the only CFL team not to beat Ottawa this season as the Redblacks defeated Toronto 18-17 in their home opener July 18 the only other time the two clubs met. They beat us so theyve got our attention regardless, Toronto head coach Scott Milanovich said. If we dont play well they can beat us, theyve already proven that. The six-foot-three, 209-pound Harris has played sparingly over his three seasons with Toronto, completing 33-of-58 passes for 424 yards and a TD. He was the Argos No. 3 quarterback his first two years before being promoted to Rays backup this off-season after Zach Collaros left to sign with Hamilton.Milanovich said he and offensive co-ordinator Marcus Brady struggled with the decision to start either Collaros or Harris last year when injuries forced Ray to miss seven starts. Ultimately, they went with Collaros, who went 5-2 during Rays absence.Marcus and I went back and broke down every drive relative to points scored and Zach was a bit better, Milanovich said. But it was very close and almost borderline unfair for Trevor that he didnt get that opportunity. He certainly has earned it. His teammates believe in him and I expect hell play well.Harris was productive at Edinboro (2006-09), amassing 11,899 passing yards and 100 TD passes. In his final collegiate game, Harris completed 50-of-70 passes for a Division II playoff-record 630 yards and five TDs while running for two more in a wild 84-63 playoff loss to West Liberty.Unfortunately for Harris, he only had one full practice this week as Toronto plays twice within a five-day span.It just felt natural to be in there, to take the reps and call the plays, he said. That can go a long way come gametime.I started a lot of games in college, Ive played a lot of games and theres nerves every time yyou step on the field.dddddddddddd But once that first snap is over, you usually get those nerves out and just start playing loose.Ottawa quarterback Henry Burris, a 16-year CFL veteran, said overcoming nerves is challenging for a young quarterback. You better get used to loving butterflies because youre going to be feeling them and seeing them fly around you for a couple of days leading up to the game, he said. The anxiety is going to be flowing the night before when youre trying to go to sleep and constantly start to rehearse plays in your head. The most important thing is his teammates are going to rally around him and give him the best chance of knowing that he doesnt need to do everything himself. I think thats the No. 1 thing you have to communicate to a young quarterback because once you press and try to do too much thats when bad things happen.Milanovich, himself a former quarterback, agrees.I dont want (Harris) trying to be a hero from the pocket, he said. I want him to get through his progressions and if its time for him to make a play he needs to make it.We dont believe our season is over. I told our guys this is our last chance to keep the dream we all have alive, which is to be champions at the end of the year. I think well come out of the game playing hard.Toronto will be making more lineup changes than at quarterback. Rookie cornerback Isaiah Green, who joined the Argos roughly three weeks ago, replaces Vince Agnew (Achilles) while veteran receiver Jason Barnes comes off the six-game injured list to start at slotback.Running back Curtis Steele (concussion) and defensive lineman Marcus Thomas (foot) also wont play.Burris will start for Ottawa but head coach Rick Campbell will give backup Dan OBrien plenty of playing time against Toronto.I want to get him in there where he gets into the flow of a game and is directing an offence and hopefully thats for a big chunk of time (Friday), Campbell said. I think it only helps us to know in the off-season what our depth is at quarterback.Hes done some real good things for us but we need to see him play for a good chunk of the game and see how that goes.Burris said hes fine with that.I know Im starting things out, well see what happens from there, he said. Regardless of what theyre asking me to do Im going to make sure I am ready.Im making sure (OBrien) is prepared and able to compete against whatever Toronto throws at him. Theyre going to bring the heat. They bring a lot of different blitz packages and love getting pressure.Ottawa can certainly spoil Torontos playoff plans, a role Campbell kind of relishes.Thats always an added bonus, that we get to have an affect on whats going to happen in the playoffs, he said. We know its a big game for them but its a big game for us because were a team that needs to get better each week. ' ' '
