MILWAUKEE -- Braden Shipley, the Arizona Diamondbacks top prospect, will make his major league debut Monday when he takes the mound against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park. The 15th overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, Shipley started 19 games for Triple-A Reno this season, posting an 8-5 record and 3.70 ERA while striking out 77 and walking only 22 in 119 1/3 innings of work.Hes really pitched well in Reno, Arizona manager Chip Hale told MLB.com. When you talk to (Reno manager) Phil Nevin, theres been a couple ... farmhands have come through and really have controlled the offenses in Renos ballpark, and Bradens one of those guys. Were excited about it.In 81 career minor league appearances -- 80 starts -- Shipley is 24-27 with a 3.79 ERA.His pitches play in the big leagues, said Hale. His fastball, if its down, is very good. Hes got an above-average change-up and breaking ball. He has a chance to compete. We just have to work with him and realize there are going to be some butterflies tomorrow and have him enjoy it.Arizona has lost 17 of last 21 games but snapped a four-game losing streak Sunday with a 9-8 victory over the Reds in Cincinnati. The Diamondbacks hit four home runs in that contests, including a pair from Yasmany Tomas. Our guys did not quit, Hale said. Which they hadnt done that the last two days. They just were able to really hang in there in their at-bats. Obviously, Tomas with the two home runs were huge.Milwaukee will try to bounce back from a frustrating loss to the Cubs Sunday. The Brewers jumped out to an early 4-0 against Jon Lester but stranded 12 runners on the day and allowed five runs in the seventh inning to drop the series with their NL Central rivals. To get back on track, theyll turn to former Diamondback Chase Anderson, himself looking to get corrected. Anderson is 0-4 with a 9.13 ERA in his last six starts and has failed to work more than 4 1/3 innings in his last five outings.Anderson lasted just four innings his last time out, allowing three rubs in six hits and a pair of walks while striking out two in a 9-5 victory at Pittsburgh.I thought the second inning he got stuck a little bit, he got out of it and then the next two innings were pretty good, said manager Craig Counsell. He was up to 85, 86 pitches and going through the meat of their order again. Wed like to get him a little more efficient with his pitches, but I thought he rebounded from that second inning, which was important.Monday will mark Andersons first career start against Arizona, which selected him in the ninth round of the 2009 MLB Draft. He spent two seasons with the Diamondbacks, going 15-13 with a 4.18 ERA before being traded to Milwaukee in January along with Aaron Hill and prospect Isan Diaz for Jean Segura. Brown, an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs, was in discussions Friday night with Philadelphia regarding terms and finances, according to Yahoo! Sports. The Sixers have been searching for a coach since Doug Collins resigned in April. Brown helped lead the Spurs to the NBA Finals last season, where they lost to the Miami Heat in seven games. He, along with new general manager Sam Hinkie, would be at the head of a major rebuilding project with the 76ers, who failed to make the post-season last year and finished in last place in the Atlantic Division, a year after advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals. Brown, 52, was a part of three NBA title teams with San Antonio. As Brown negotiated with 76ers executives, including owner Josh Harris, reports circulated of Harris potential purchase of the NHLs New Jersey Devils. According to a person close to the negotiations, Harris group is the front-runner for the financially struggling franchise, a team that has won three Stanley Cup titles since 1995. Though a purchase price -- near $300 million, the person said -- appears to be set, there are still several factors to iron out between Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek and Harris. The person expects the agreement to be in place sometime early next week and be finalized with thee league in time for the NHL opener in October.dddddddddddd The deal would create some more interest in the long-running rivalry between the Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers, who play in the same building -- the Wells Fargo Center -- as Harris 76ers. The agreement with the Devils would include operating rights to the Prudential Center in Newark, which opened in 2007 and housed the Stanley Cup Finals in 2012, as well as the NHL Draft in June. Brown would be a rookie head coach, as opposed to the veteran Collins, who had one year left on his original four-year deal worth $4.5 million. He stepped down after a season so full of promise unraveled starting with the knee injury to centre Andrew Bynum. The Sixers went 34-48 and lost Bynum via free agency to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bynum, acquired in a summer trade in 2012, was considered a missing piece to the franchise. But he never played for the Sixers because of bone bruises in both knees. He insisted from training camp he would play, only to shut it down for good March 18. He underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery on both knees. Bynum earned $16.5 million last season. Collins, a four-time All-Star player for the Sixers, returned to the franchise in 2010 and led Philadelphia to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons. A year ago, the Sixers eliminated the top-seeded Chicago Bulls in the first round. ' ' '
